Last night saw the opening of Car Art by the ICA, but not at the ICA. Closed during the Olympics, the ICA's HQ is just beside the Beach Vollyball events at Horseguards Parade. So, a multi-story carpark in Shoreditch is home to a set of BMWs, painted by well-known modern artists. Andy Warhol, Claude Lichtenstein and David Hockney are included, not for their 'pimp my ride' skills, but their ability to turn an object into an artwork. Reminiscent of the themes explored at the ICA in 1955 in Man, Machine & Motion.
